Intro Design Pty Ltd is a recently established company with a growing reputation. We are built on experience, and conceived to provide pragmatic design advice to both public and private sector clients. A true multi-disciplinary company, Intro utilises the literal advisory services of its planning and development staff to complement the innovative design approach of its designers. Put simply, through a high level of rigour, we deliver on all types of projects.

Intro can uniquely offer both planning and design services as a vehicle to facilitate cost effective, contextual and responsive design solutions. Our collective experience on a diverse range of building functions and solutions bring significant benefits to each project as an informed planning approach is developed into a commercially viable and pragmatic design solution.

Our design responses are an original and unique response to the people and places we meet in each project. We pursue a pragmatic, analytical and open working method that produces intelligent and responsive design solutions. Design quality, which is clear and logical, results from the continuity of the design process and intensive dialogue between all parties, including clients, users, planners and contractors. We innovate because we understand that innovation is as much about finding simpler ways of doing things better as it is about finding new things to do. We believe in design solutions which contribute to a sense of place; qualities which will be inherent for future generations to enjoy.

Case study - 69 Light Square
69 Light Square

This project, due to start on site in early 2014, proposes an eighteen storey mixed-use building to create fifty, one, two and three bedroom and penthouse apartments. At ground floor commercial uses are sensitively configured within the volume of the existing building to provide activation to the street and to the wider square. Office suites at the lower levels provide further street activation and enhance the vibrancy of the overall development by creating a sense of address and a place for living.

The design approach involves the sensitive re-purposing of an existing heritage listed building whilst creating a new, efficient, innovative and contemporary mixed-use residential development above. The apartments are designed to exploit the buildings prime orientation and unimpeded aspect, either across one of Adelaide’s most significant green squares or to the coast. Natural daylighting and cross-ventilation will afford a high level of resident amenity, complemented by large open-plan layouts, extensive balconies and terraces and quality interior finishes.

The mix of apartment types and configurations has been sensitively designed to be flexible and adaptable to attract a range of tenants and to ensure the building is inherently sustainable.

The final proposals were the result of an exhaustive iterative design process which necessarily included key stakeholders including Adelaide City Council, Development Assessment Commission, Heritage SA and the Office of the Government Architect.
